While I became owner and and president of Tess Enterprises in 2009, it sometimes seems like I was born installing batting cages, welding equipment, painting machines, tying nets, or building pitching machines since my family has owned and operated Tess Enterprises since 1975.

The company itself originated out of a small warehouse in St. Petersburg, FL over 40 years ago as Tru-Pitch Inc. Tru-Pitch established its name in the baseball industry in 1969 by manufacturing a baseball training machine invented by Earle Halstead, former major league scout. He developed this initial pitching machine out of a wooden crate. It became the first curve-ball pitching machine in the industry.

By 1972, the original wooden-crate pitching machine rapidly developed into the Model III which was used by 25 of the 26 major league ball clubs.

Earle hired Richard Tess when he realized Dick's expertise in developing an accurate and consistent motor for his pitching machines. When Earle retired in 1975, he sold the business to Dick who remained CEO and president until 2009.

With our unique ability to meet the individual needs of our customers, we are able to provide many quality products and service a wide variety of customers. Customers include major league ball clubs, high schools and universities, as well as city and county park and recreation programs.
